Living Lands & Waters

The Communication and Leadership Award is presented by the district to a carefully selected person or organization in the community that is an outstanding communicator and leader. District 54 is pleased to announce that Living Lands & Waters organization has been selected for their outstanding contributions to the community and for the leadership of its founder Chad Pregracke.

Living Lands & Waters is a non-profit industrial strength river cleanup operation. It consist of five barges, two tow boats and five 30 foot work boats and other heavy machinery. The organization has worked on 23 rivers and with the help of almost 100,000 volunteers removed nearly 9 million pounds of trash.

Living Lands consists of ten core crew members who live and work from the barges for up to 8 months out of the year. The house barge they live on also serves as a floating classroom for river education.

Living Lands & Waters will be honored at the Toastmasters District 54 Spring Conference on Saturday, April 29, 12:30 PM, at the iWireless Center, Moline, IL.
